Independent Consultancies

Some of the older members of the Collective have begun to take up independent research and consultancy including documenting and/or translating publications of other civil society organisations. This helps in some measure to make the organisation self sustaining even while it gives an opportunity to share older learnings while bringing in new ones into SIEDS. Some of the projects taken up are:

  • Documenting inspirational stories of resistance and change among young women in slum communities as part of an international project involved with youth empowerment across three cities in India for Action Aid
  • Review and reflection process of domestic worker unions and changing trends on Labour issues across the country for Action Aid
  • A review of the work being done by organisations working with adolescent girls in Uttar Pradesh for APPI
  • Translation into English of Hasivu Kanasu, a play written in Kannada and performed by Sadhana Mahila Sangha on the realities and rights of sex workers
